Campus police have begun issuing tickets for those parking at the archery range/ropes course. Until this issue is sorted out, we recommend parking in East Parking lot and paying the $2 for parking from a vending machine. Or park off-campus (such as Campus Point Dr.) and walk from there.

Due to the nice little downpour we've gotten, practice will be cancelled tonight. Barring further showers, Thursday practice should be on. Check back for any possible updates.

Good day all, just a reminder - regular practice will be closed on Thursday, since most of our range marshalls will not be making it out there tomorrow.

Also, if you have not heard yet, Mr. and Mrs. Ramey recently made a wonderful donation of $200 to our range. The club officers extends its sincerest gratitude to the Ramey family for its generosity, as the donation will greatly help the small amount of funds we have. If you happen to see Sean Ramey on the range, be sure to extend your thanks!

Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

Hi all, just a notice - there's a significant chance of rain around noon and from 5 - 7pm tomorrow. Check back around noontime tomorrow for an update on the range status - if it starts raining during practice we'll have to close up.

Also, thanks to all those who brought to our attention that the website was down last week. Our website went offline for several hours while ACS renewed our student organization account.

It's the start of a new school year! Welcome back everyone! ...And sorry for the lack of updates...I've been away the whole summer.

It's not really news anymore, for those who were not around when elections happened, I am the president of the club, Angelica has stepped down to VP so she'll have more time in other clubs, and Darlene is our treasurer. Also, our current poll will be closing soon and the results posted.

There are going to be some changes coming along. Firstly, now that we have a bigger range, we will start actively recruiting UCSD students. Especially during the first weeks, freshmen are the most eager ones to come out and try new things. We will have student flyer emails sent out and other flyers posted around campus. Help us get the word out too!

Secondly, if you all remember, this is only the beta version of the website. The final version of our website will be coming into realization within the next three months. Features will include a phpBB2 forum, a photo gallery that anybody can upload to and comment on, improved polls (no more stupid polls by e-mail), administrative site control—which means other officers will be updating this site too, which equals more updates and hopefully a more accurate "Range status" box—our own wiki page, where anybody can create and edit "encyclopedia" entries, an online calendar of events, possibly a PayPal button for donations to our club, and much, much more. My hopes are that the website will become an exciting community portal where discussions, ideas, and media can be exchanged. Anyway, something awesome to be looking forward to.

Our new range is now officially open! There will be practice today.

However, because all certified range marshalls will be away as far as I know on Thursday and Sunday, there will be no one to run the lines. Therefore regular practice will be cancelled on the 26th and the 29th. Practice will resume on Tuesday, May 31. If you have your own equipment, the range is open so feel free to head out and shoot.

A big thanks and major props to those who showed up on Saturday morning to help move the site. As of this morning, the old site has been completely vacated and the new site is ready to use.

However, before we officially resume practice, the new range technically still needs to be mulched and needs to be inspected and approved by Don Chadwick, so we will not be holding practice until Sunday, May 22. The range shall be closed and off-limits for the remainder of this week. This includes those of you who have your own equipment who may come out on off-practice days to shoot — we apologize for the day and ask for your cooperation!

Meanwhile, please help spread the word! The maps on the webpages have already been updated.

The day has arrived!!! Saturday the 14th is the day. Our new field is graded, our new hay bales delivered, the birm shaped and the fence built...our shed is completed and our butt frames constructed, and we are more or less ready to move. Give Larry a call if you would like to help in some way. Party starts at 9am.

The site will soon be updated with a new map and directions. If you have not seen the new range yet, it is situated right next to the ropes course. Anyway, I will try to get the map up tomorrow.

For those that will not be at the LAST practice at the old range, I'll see you all at practice at the new range on Sunday!

Welcome back! Looks like we'll be having good weather this week — the range has finally completely dried up. Yesterday we had more newbies (15? 20?) than we had for a long time! All these things, plus the fact that daylight savings is ending this week means we'll be getting lots of good shooting in.

Most of the pages on this beta site is up now, except for a few pages that are just waiting for some content that'll be up soon. Note that the file name of the homepage has changed (from index.htm to index.shtml). If you have bookmarked the page as index.htm, please change the address accordingly. I'll be working on browser compatibility and integrating scripts next — that will be the primary changes for the "alpha" site.

Two of the more useful pages that are up now is the précis and the guides page, which is unfortunately still in the works. For people who would like to get more involved with the club, you can find up to date information on the précis page. The guides page needs some contribution! If anyone is interested in working on a guide on a topic that hasn't been covered yet, feel free to submit one!

Poll #1 has closed — thanks to all the people who voted, which really helped in the design of the web page. The aim of the next poll is to get more demographic information in an effort o continue to improve the website. The results of the last poll, "What resolution is your desktop set to?", is as follows:

Woot! Practice is on for Thursday!

We need some strong people to help re-set the bales before practice; if you can come out to the range shortly before practice to lend a hand, that'd be greatly appreciated!

See you all out there tomorrow.

Yep...the range is a veritable pond ecology. No chance of the range being dry enough on Tuesday, and it's gonna rain AGAIN on Saturday and Sunday. Like I said, closed until further notice : (

Looks like the range will remain closed until further notice. If it rains today (which is unlikely to happen) it won't be until later on during the day, but in any case the range is too soggy to hold practice today.

Weather next week looks pretty wet too, so it looks like we won't have practice until next Sunday. Bummer.

First...apologies to anyone who checked the site then hauled over to the range to find it was closed. Got an e-mail from Larry asking me to update the status to "closed," and what was I doing the whole afternoon? Sleeping like the dead, after an all-nighter.

Anyways, range update. Trees have been cut down recently on our site in preparation for the parking lot project, but not to worry. It is almost certain out new archery range will be open by the time they they start paving...which doesn't look like any time soon. They gotta move the trees off before work can continue.

Soooooo. Check back often — the site will stay updated with news on our moving day.

0% chance of precipitation and it looks like the range will be dry on Sunday. Horrah! I'll be seeing you all on Sunday morning.

Doesn't look like there will be practice on Thursday either -- it's going to be a while before the range is dry enough. Check back later during the week for an update on when practice will resume again!

Well, it looks like from all the wonderful weather we've been having, the move to our new archery range has been set back at least two weeks...no ETA for an exact moving day yet. So, don't come to the range on Wednesday — there will be no move on Wednesday.

It looks like there won't be any practice on Tuesday either, so I'll look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday!

Hey everyone, keep in mind that moving day is scheduled for January 12th! We will need a lot of help for a few hours to get everything moved over. So if you have a few hours free on Wednesday Jan 12th, please come out and help us move!

Well...it's been a most interesting year! Hope everyone had a great Christmas, and a prosperous New Year to everyone.

As for the range, many things have been set in motion and the day we move to the new archery range is drawing near. As of last we heard, the moving day is preliminarily scheduled for the week of January 10, but you know how things are....

Happy holidays to everyone, and I'll see you all in 2005!

Time for a site update: Google has detected our new page and cached it...woot! This site is now the #1 link when you search 'ucsd archery' in Google. Much easier than telling people to go to acs.ucsd.edu/~archery ...right?

I've been caught up with midterms these last two weeks but I'm all done now...so I'll be putting extra effort this weekend into the site. I hope to get at least 2/3 of the pages up, so expect plenty of updates and new working links by Monday!

Quite some people have brought up concerns about the site's compatibility — very legitimate concerns I may add. Don't worry, I hear ya...it's just that getting the site finished is #1 priority right now. Cross-browser compatilibity is #2. But for those that are interested, I'm already looking into how I might completely redesign the menu (in the code, the user won't be able to tell the difference) to work out the kinks in other browsers.

Yaayy! The message board is up. Jimmy 0wn3d the first message. And we have 1 item on the faq. Progress is good.

The menu is functional now...except the for the links...haha. Don't worry, you'll be seeing them go up one by one as I work on the pages.

Practice is on, but it's going to be hella windy tomorrow. Be wise and dress up, folks. Ya can't shoot straight when you're shivering.

Wait, never mind. That's an S in front of the "5"...not a 3. I r smart.

Well, what a treat on this glorious Halloween—I've been holed up in my room typing away at little plastic keys for a few hours now—and the UCSD Archery homepage, beta version, is finally up. Links aren't up yet...I know, the poll works funny (it works by e-mail), and the logo is 'beta version' too. For now, the only purpose is the 'Status' box, which I project will be a godsend for those people who don't have cars. I know, because I was one of them last year. It sucked walking bussing and walking 20 minutes to find the gate closed with a happy "Range Closed!" sign.

And yes, the Status box is indeed updated at least once every 24 hours. If the Practice Status says "pending" (it will be in yellow), it means the status will be updated within an hour...so check by again.

In the meantime, please take the poll if you haven't yet. The results of the poll will go into the web design for maximum compatibility, so pleeeeease, don't vote more than once...it will make the poll results meaningless if I wake up one day and find 500 submissions of "beyond 1024x768". Thanks!!!

The site is 100% planned out on paper already. As soon as I get done with midterms this week, this site should take off and the good 'n juicy features will go up quickly. For everyone else—good luck on your midterms!
